Imagine this: You wake up and are shocked to find that suddenly everything around you has changed. Your bed, your room, your body, your whole life is completely different, because you realize you aren't yourself anymore. Today, you are a guest in your body. Today, you became someone else. Literally.
Okay, don't panic, it wasn't real. But for sixteen-year-old A, this nightmare is reality. Since the day he was born, every morning A has woke up in someone else's body, in someone else's life. He has no idea of what happens to the people whose lives he borrows. He has never woken up in the same body twice, so A wonders if they can remember what happened that day after he leaves. He also has a few strange abilities: even though he wakes up in someone else's body each morning, he can remember what happened the previous day; he can access the person's memories which can help him recognize teachers, friends, parents, etc...; he cannot stay in one body for more than twenty-four hours. Even though he wakes up in a different body each day, he knows that he is still the same person inside. Because of the fact that the people whose lives he borrows did not offer them by choice, he tries to limit how much he affects their lives as much as he can, at least until he falls in love with his body's girlfriend.
Later on, he discovers that he can choose specific things for the person to remember, or make up a false memory, otherwise the person is left with a blurred memory of the day before. A also discovers that he is not the only person with this ability. He eventually encounters a man who, like him, has the ability to change bodies. The man is masquerading as a pastor and tries to capture A. The man has figured out how to stay in a body for longer than a day, and he tempts A with this knowledge. A, who has vowed to never interfere with people's lives, feels that it would be wrong to steal another person's body just so he could have a normal life, and declines the sinister offer. Their conversation continues to haunt him for the rest of the book, and and his romance with Rhiannon is the only thing that stays constant. That makes it even harder when they have to say goodbye to each other.
