Students who stay up late studying don't often realize that pulling an "all-niter" to cram for a test can do more harm than good. many students think that they can just stay up late into the night and study without it affecting them, but that is far from the truth. Not getting enough sleep can seriously affect how well the brain functions. When we don't get enough sleep, proteins build up in the brain that can affect focus, concentration, and memory. Lack of sleep can also enlarge the amygdala, the part of the brain which processes emotions and affects how we emotionally respond to events.this can cause us to react more emotionally when making decisions. This can affect how well a student retains information and responds to conflicts throughout the day.

A little about me...I am currently a Junior attending Carbondale Community High School in southern Illinois. I mainly use this page to post entries for my English III class, but occasionally some of my personal writing will make an appearance as well.
